How to create an invoice online

  1. Choose Tax Invoice if you are VAT-registered, or Invoice if not.
  2. Enter your business details and your customer’s details, including TRNs for VAT invoices.
  3. Add each product or service with quantity and unit price. VAT and totals are calculated for you.
  4. Add payment details and any notes, then click Download PDF and send it to your customer.

What should an invoice include?

At minimum: your name and address, the customer’s name, a unique invoice number, the date, a description of what was supplied, the amount and any tax. In the UAE a VAT tax invoice also needs your Tax Registration Number, the VAT rate and amount, and totals in AED. Read the full checklist in how to create a VAT invoice in the UAE.

UAE tax invoice generator (FTA format)

This free tool follows the UAE tax invoice format: the words “Tax Invoice”, your TRN and your customer’s TRN, a sequential invoice number, dates, VAT at 5% per line and totals in AED. It works for businesses in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and every other emirate. Not sure whether you need a full or simplified tax invoice? Read our guide.

Free invoice template for freelancers and small businesses

Freelancers who are not VAT-registered can choose the plain Invoice option and set VAT to 0%. Need other formats? See our free invoice template for the UAE and the freelancer invoicing guide.

When to move beyond a free generator

A generator is perfect for occasional invoices. If you invoice regularly, retyping details and tracking numbers by hand becomes risky: duplicate invoice numbers, no record of who has paid, and no VAT report at quarter-end. InvoicePro’s free plan saves your customers and products, numbers invoices automatically, tracks payments and prepares your VAT figures.
